Why should I consider bathtub refinishing rather than replacement?
First of all, to replace something you MUST first tear out the old items. When considering the cost of replacement you must consider tear out, cost of replacement item, labor for installation, not to mention the mess and time it will take. For example, normal costs for replacing a bathtub range from $1,800 - $4,500 and will usually take one and a half to two weeks to complete. Refinishing takes less than one day and will save up to 80% vs. replacement.
Shower and Bathtub liners are expensive, available in limited colors and are usually accompanied by a sales pitch for new walls, plumbing, hardware and fixtures. Standard liners are boxy and cover the contours that give the original tub its character. Contoured liners are available only at an extra charge. Turn around time on liners can range from 4-8 weeks because your existing tub needs to be measured and that spec. sent to the liner manufacturer, who then, makes and ships it to the middleman installer. Those measurements must be exact or the liner will not fit properly and can add days or weeks to the project. Let's face it, nobody wants to deal with all that just for their tub to look like new and be easy to clean.
When reglazing is used with your overall remodeling plans, money that would have been spent on replacement or lining of the worn fixture can be used elsewhere.
Reglazing is the most cost effective way to REVIVE your bathroom's existing fixtures. Tiles are not removed, the plumbing is not disturbed and the walls and structure are left intact. We do this through the use of a proven process, with materials that will leave your fixtures glossy, smooth and easy to clean. The “Glaze” or topcoat that we use we use is available in a wide variety of colors and can be custom tinted to meet your remodeling needs. Our refinishing system uses a sprayed material that produces a smooth, non-porous acrylic/poly coating that bond’s to the original material. This “glazing’ process meets and/or exceeds the original fixture manufacturer specifications for stain and wear resistance.
COLORS:
White is by far our most popular choice of color for refinishing, and included in the price. However changing the color of bathtubs, sinks or wall tile will give any bathroom a new updated look for a fraction of the cost of replacement. We can refinish any color fixture into a new color.
Available in American Standard, Kohler and Bemis colors
We can also custom tint your color:
We offer a 90-95% custom color tint on all color changes, most are tinted on site to achieve the best match possible. The color tint services cost $25 - $35 extra, depending on the size of the job and the darkness of the desired color (special blacks being the most expensive). To aid in our color match, we ask customers to have a sample of the desired color available for the refinisher. If the desired color is to match the color of newly installed fixtures, we request that customers have the actual replacement fixture(s) on hand for the closest color match possible. Please contact us for details.
NEW DRAIN:
When refinishing a bathtub it's always best to change the drain!
Often times the previous home owners have used CAUSTIC DRAIN OPENERS WHICH caused the pipes to become brittle and can easily break with ONE TURN or a little torque on the drain pulling tool. You run the risk of the pipe breaking underneath the bathtub. Fixing a busted drain under a tub will then require tub removal or in the best cases cutting a hole behind the wall to access the pipes! Even crawling underneath the house to reach the pipes on older homes is a possibility. This could cost Hundreds of dollars, possibly thousands if tub requires removal.
Eliminate problems and increase aesthetics by using our Drop in Drain Kit. For a fraction of the cost of hiring a plumber we can give your old drain a new look.
